I just bought a 2022 fx sport 4 hybrid to ride with my kids. Previous owner maybe road the bike twice.

I got the shifters and everything adjusted but the brakes are lacking some serious stopping power and squealing pretty bad at low speed. I'm speculating previous owner maybe contaminated them some how.

can the pads be recovered by sanding them, or at this point throw some new ones in? no weird grooving in the rotors.

great bike otherwise and will work great for riding with the kids.

These brakes came with the bikes due to the Covid shortage, I believe they should be Tektro brakes. I just trashed them and got new brakes.

I had the same bike with the same brakes – they never had the stopping power I wanted, even when new. I eventually swapped them out for a GRX set and the difference was night and day.

  3. I say just replace the set if your able to get some entry level tektro or shimano hydraulic brakes a million times better then those “promax, rush, power brakes”

  4. If it’s a 2022 those brakes could be part of the promax recall. Check Trek’s website. I had promax on my FX+2 and got rid of them for Shimano MT201. So much better!
