About Neill Stanbury: https://neillsbikefit.com.au
In this video I will be sharing my own personal experiences with the Selle SMP. My model is the SMP Nymber but all SMP’s carry the same patented shape. I will also involve expert bike fitter Neill Stanbury to share his view on the saddle in question. This story involves pain and discomfort issues I have been getting on the bike for years, which I thought were all crank length based. I’ll also share the pros and cons on the SMP.

First of all THERE IS NO BEST SADDLE IN THE WORLD
Never had any problems with that Toupe, if it fits for you it is the best saddle in the world. And with some people that could be the SMP but with a lot of people it won’t (probably even most) also it’s mostly not the saddle that’s the problem but the bikefit
4:40 You reckon wrong
5:20 patents don’t mean shit, only means they protect that shape, doesn’t mean it’s better or worse
I ride MTB and boy do i swear by my Selle SMP WELL!
My 2002 Cannondale Scalpel 800 had some older posh SELLE saddle with carbon, gel and all the cool things in place.
I saw a lightly used SMP WELL in my size on a local marketplace, gave it a try and it is still the best upgrade i ever did to any of my bikes!
Unbelievably comfortable with bibs, offers great control on hardpack plus my version is made of some synthetic material that slides a bit (another awesome feature for off-road riding)
Kudos to all it's creators!
Totally awesome saddle for my application, i'm brimming with joy on every ride
Have any Chinese facs saddle makes started making these yet? What model SMP was he presenting here for this video? The natural leather hide on these saddles makes them prone to wear, they could be making them with a synthetic cover. And maybe make better profit with a more digestible price!
For people who have problems with the leather on the SMP, know that the colored (not black) versions use synthetic which is more durable.
Best saddle is the one that fits your a$$
The SMP rep convinced me whilst I was working in a bike shop over 15yrs ago. I'm on my second one now. Can't say I've experienced any of the peeling issues some relay in their comments. Getting the angle spot on is crucial!
3:36 I am a non-californian American and I gotta say this is dead on
I’m on team SMP. I used to work for a wholesaler that imported SMP saddles. I didn’t like the design, but we received so many enthousiastic comments from customers that I bought one of the saddles myself. I have been a fan ever since. No more sore genitals.
Hi Cam , have either you or Neil reviewed the SMP F30C s.i. yet?
Pronounced too-pey
There's a lot of ass tearing going on in this video.
I was talked into the SMP Avant saddle and had real pain on my inner thigh. I had an old Lite 209 and developed the same problem. I went back to mu Berthoud saddle. I think both SMP saddles were too wide. I wonder if I should have originally tried the Dynamic model.
bicycley or basically?
I wonder how extraterrestrial civilizations solve these kinds of problems?
Honestly, still rocking a Toupe on my 2014 Tarmac SL4… plain lined gym shorts, and doing rides with 0 problems.
Ah the cut aways are great! Informative and funny 😀 love it and thank you for all the hard work!love it!
Thanks for the review. They are spendy buggers!
Too bad, you are using CLICKBAIT! The information in this video is good, but you should have chosen a different title, such as "For me this is the best …".
Thanks.
The Best Saddle in the World is No Saddle:
Dump your two wheeled torture device and..
Get a Recumbent Trike or Bike :o)
On a trike, no special (padded?) clothing is needed,
because one sits in a comfy chair – not on a saddle.
The real answer is to sort out the cause of your hip impingement. A visit to a Gonstead Chiropractor would be my suggestion.
I had a Selle SMP dynamic that I loved. Never experienced pain on long rides after switching to it. I fortunately that bike was stolen and I haven’t been able to come up with the cash to buy a new one yet.
i don't get it. i find this saddle actually stylish and looking cool. i ride it myself and it feels like it grips my a…
F1 cars are ugly too, but they are effective despite the Rules
it will ruin the look of any bike 🤮😂😂love it, absolutely agree, god damn ugly saddle. Think I might have to continue with a sore arse so my bike still looks cool 😂
What saddle bag do you use with the smp?
dude ….there's no best of…anything!! it's only the best….if it works for you!! then, it's the best! choices my friend. that's what allows us, to constantly chase the things in life, that makes us happy! thanks for the vid!
If you were not a weight weeny you could use the Specialized Power Comp with MIMIC 168mm. It is a woman's seat but the most comfortable.
"Focalizing"?
SI boost, was moving all over the seat pushing on the bars to get my ass back away from the pressure points. Tried 3 other brands one a little better. Got smp ❤️!!!
The saddles now offered by Fizik don't even bother with that ugly down turned beak…it serves no purpose so they've just cut them off and ended the saddle further back…kinda makes sense.
Would anyone be so kind to share their thoughts if I could use Selle SMP e-sport large (13-15cm) on a road (aero) bike for triathlon? Many thanks! P.S. comfort is the most important for me…
I enjoy the Selle Italia super flow boost s3. it's not quite a flat but it's not as pronounced as the amp saddles. But saddles and people vary so much that if something works then go for it no reason to follow just because it works for someone else etc. Which clearly smp works for a lot of people
So far my $50 Ryet Aircode is the Goldilocks for me!
id prolly quit cycling before i ever put that on my bike
Great i justbought a selle san marco , hopefully ill get lucky
Maybe you guys need to wait until you've got real experience. You're not old enough to really know what you're talking about.
I don't really get why anyone would call SMP ugly – yes, it could look quirky, but as my bike is quirky, I actually like look of it. I guess there are some standards how road bike should look and too bad people want to follow trends instead of enjoying what they actually like, and in case of saddle, what's comfortable. Comfortable rides are more repeated and more enjoyed rides. Cycling shouldn't be a lesson of Spanish inquisition….
As a mountain bike rider, am I learning anything from this? we don't do the tuck in and hunch, so the hip position is different.
