I was looking for a hobby similar to what I like about skiing (which obviously I only can do in the winter). Going outside with a bit of a sporty pretense but also being able to chill and enjoy the scenery (hence the e-mtb).
A few of my friends got me into the sport and I’m hooked.

It’s hilarious seeing all these people losing their minds over electric bikes. Bunch of gatekeeping losers. I’m doing bunch of hobbies from aviation to rock climbing and I haven’t seen same kind of butthurt people anywhere else. Road bikers aren’t nearly as butthurt about ebikes than mountain bikers are. I think they’re compensating something.

After a car hit me shattering my knee and femur, buying a Scott eRide 920 eMTB was the only way to get back on the trails, and it’s been fantastic. I get a thorough workout and do what I love. It’s not a Surron, it’s a MTB with a small motor to help.

You’re basically trying to gate keep a hobby about riding a bike in the woods. Let them enjoy riding how they want to do it, and you enjoy it how you want to do it. Don’t be a tool.

Amazing have fun hope your season is amazing and you ride on some great adventures. Ps. Some of yall need to calm down. People can have *hobbies*. And the e bikes (actual ebikes 250w etc.) you can buy or find on used market. Is amazing.
