  1. I’ve stopped buying easily faked stuff like that from ebay. For important consumables I use a trusted shop like SJS. I’ll still use ebay for looking for used/NOS type stuff.

  2. *Why* would you buy from ‘calmcloudwholesale’ off eBay?

Either buy from LBS, Shimano itself, big box stores (Décathlon, Alltricks, etc.), or actual B2B wholesalers if you’re a pro.

any bike parts you buy off ebay or amazon should always be assumed to be fakes.

i fell for this too a few years back. i didn’t think there was a market for fake chains so didn’t suspect the cheap price. i won’t buy certain things from ebay/amazon/alix/etc unless i can be 100% sure.

  5. Usually covered by eBay money back guarantee. File that as fake/counterfeit and eBay will refund you without having to return the item. eBay will delist the listing too and may suspend/ban the seller.

Stop buying shit from non-authorized retailers. This is an extremely simple solution.

Bikewrench gets pretty annoyed by the number of people who go to their LBS and state that they can get the parts cheaper online.

They know the parts can be cheaper online. They also know there’s a real risk that the parts are counterfeit.

Anyway; that’s just to explain why your post was deleted over there.

  8. Does/did the original listing have a picture where it showed NO hollow pins? If it showed it like it is, not hollow, you really got cheated and you should have known not to buy it

You bought a fake instead of supporting your LBS.

Good job saving a few bucks..
