Added new bearings and regreased and now the wheel sound uneven? Has a little skip instead of having a steady/consistent rotational sound. All bearings are in place as they should be.

What did I do wrong? Could it be the freehub is too old? In the video I’m holding it in my hand but it sounds like that even on my bike upright and with skewers in. It sounds the same no matter how fast the wheel is spinning 😵‍💫

Rehauled my wheel now it sounds off.

Probably you’ve put too much grease and some went into the freehub body mechanism, muffling the sound at some points. If it still works, no need to touch it. If it bothers you or it doesn’t work anymore, you’ll need to open the freehub but that’s a complicated work that will require a specialized tool and to know what you’re doing.

It’s a left hand screw inside, if you force it the wrong way, it will be harder (or impossible) to remove, but even in the good direction, it requires a lot of strength and care to not destroy the screw.

It may be more simple and cheap (if you don’t have the tool) to just replace the freehub body. Or don’t touch it and keep it if it’s just a noise problem. With time, the excess of grease could spread more evenly.
