You're mentioning of Queen's University Belfast reminded me of their research into 2 stroke technology with regards to port timing and expansion pipe calculations became somewhat of the"Bible" for 2 stroke tuners back in the day. Some beautiful bikes in this Part 3 of the Telford Classic.
Nice bikes , the newer bikes will never be looked at like these are when they are 40 , 50 plus years old. 😊

The '79 Maico MC 250 had two bigger brothers that year – MC 400 and MC 440. I had the 440. Same in '80 for Maico, the 490 Mega did not come along until '81.👍
