Inspired by the new Kona Unity, I would just like to go on record predicting some wacky frame builder at a show coming to you soon will build a 32/29 bike and call it a super mullet. I am fairly sure others have got the blagging rights already.
I am eager to see what can be done without new frames, just forks. A 29er 140mm front fork and a 100mm 32 inch front will have identical geometry after all said and done.
I really don’t like different wheels on a bike that should be reliable if you are out in the woods.
Love this lot of fun
I run my ‘22 Stumpjumper as a mullet for butt clearance on steep descents, slightly lower gearing on steep climbs, & a more tail-happy dynamic in the turns… What would be the advantage on a rigid bike built, by the looks of it, for way more chill off-road cruising?
Yeah the world needs more bikes produced to a niche market.
“I love this! Fun”
“Miserly bullshit”
The two sides of bike subs, presented here in the comments of this very thread
I want to see a 32/26… /r/PennyFarthingPacking
If it’s not 32/26 I’m not interested
I’ve thought about eventually lacing up a 32 for the front of my Stooge Scrambler, which would make it 32/29. I’m already in the height category 32 was designed for, so I don’t see a downside.
Too late
Too late. Guy I ride with just did this. I think it looks jacked up, but he thinks it’s fun.
This has been talked about since the first 32 wheels were being made.
36 / 24 or bust.
