I am losing my mind. Ive had this bike for about 400 miles. I’ve tried resetting the placement of the calliper in the usual way (unscrewing and retightening while braking)

I’ve taken the brake pads out and given them a clean

I’ve tried pushing the pistons back and making sure they are moving freely. I’m not sure if they are retracting properly after braking.

I can still hear a rubbing noise while the back wheel turns if I put my ear to the calliper and can’t see light either side of the brake disc as it moves through the calliper.

I’m not sure what’s going on – does it need bleeding to make the pads retract better?

Thanks

Why is my rear grx brake rubbing?

Its touching one of the pads still. Just keep adjusting it and dont over tighten the bolts, it can make the caliper move and mess up the alignment

  2. Have you tried loosening the caliper bolts slightly, holding the brake (with tape or something) and then re-tightening the bolts?

Don’t use the method of squeezing the brake anymore. It seems as you trod this 10 times and it’s not working.
Just aligns it with your hands.

Also, a drop of lube between the washer and frame and washer and head of the bolt can help stop the bolt from shifting out of place when you reach final torque.

By carefully centering thy caliper and viewing the gap between the L&R pads, you can see if the caliper shifts or worse, if the caliper tilts.

A tilting caliper means the mounting point on the frame is not flush and needs to be faced.

    Good luck
