Minivelo tire keeps blowing off the rim! I tried to replace the old tires that came on this bike with a new set because they were ancient. Iโ€™ve tried two sets of 20โ€ tires and probably eight tubes and nothing is working ๐Ÿ™ Neither of my mechanic friends can figure it out either

Any guesses why this is happening? It just exploded in the middle of the night. Tire pressure was at 90 (I checked with two different gauges) and tire allows between 85 and 115 psi.

About to send this freakin bike back to the circus where it belongs!

Tube size is 20 x 1 1/8th inch. Weird deep rims

Are the brake pads rubbing against the tire? I’ve seen tires shred like that when the pads were to far up and wore the tire right above the bead.

Are the brakes pads installed correctly? They’ll shred the tires like this if they are too high.

  3. What a bang that must have been!
Did they all go at night?

Most logical to me is something sharp popping the tube, likely on the rim as they are new tyres. Any spoke holes damaging the rim tape? Or specifically the valve hole?

maybe the etrto of the rim is not quite the same size as 20″ tires/tubes? do the tires that you’ve bought recently fit well over the rim? or do they feel too loose?

Your brake pads are not adjusted correctly and are hitting the tire interested if the rim, this shreds tires super quickly

  6. I donโ€™t see any brake damage like others mentioned. How is mounting them? Very loose, very tight? Are you using a tool or putting them on bare handed? Is the tube definitely not getting caught? Are the tires from a reputable retailer?
