  1. I ride butyl tubes on my Randonneur bike (which is my do it all bike basically). I like having Schrader valves that I can just top off at any gas station on my way and I can get spares/patches pretty much anywhere if something goes south. I also like having a GAADI tube as a spare, it fits every bike and you don't have to take out the wheel. Only pop off the tire on one side. Expensive, but it helped out a lot on rides, as you can help out yourself or others and don't get left stranded. Looks a bit funny though, but I can't feel the gap and the wide compatibility from kids bikes to mountain bike with a single tube is just awesome to have with you.

  2. TPU tubes are dirt cheap if you order them from China. They're also light and compact enough that you can easily bring spares with you on rides.

  3. Butyl is great for commuting, less maintenance than tpu, easier to install, cheaper, and more durable. TPU is great for training and long distance cycling.
    Never tried latex.

  4. This is easy.
    Latex for race
    Butyl for training ๐Ÿ˜‚
Itโ€™s very odd how people have exact opposite experience with TPU. One is saying durable and comfortable. And others say the exact opposite.
I tried tubolito and immediate puncture. Also the ride was more uncomfortable. You can tell by the construction itโ€™s a flexible plastic but not butyl flexible. You are not supposed to pump full out of the tire because you can ruin the shape because itโ€™s just not flexible. Hence itโ€™s just a stiffy ride. It feels faster maybe because more shock goes through. Also the stiffer material I contribute to itโ€™s more susceptible to puncture. Also the valve is harder to mate to the tube. Hence you get more air leak issues. Also doesnโ€™t handle heat as well if you happen to have a rim brake wheel.
    So conclusion.
Butyl for daily mix with lightweight performance tires.
    TPU as backup carry tube.
    Latex for race.
    /end ๐Ÿ˜…

  5. if latex didn't slowly leak id be more willing to switch to them, if tpu was less fragile id be more willing to switch to it, but for right now my cycling goals require dependability and i think currently butyl meats that goal

  6. Lightweight butyl is the best imho. Saves money, not much heavier than tpu, easy to repair and I don't care about losing 3 Watt of efficiency or so. I'm on the bike to see stuff and sports, not win races.
