    it doesnt need to have a friction fit in the shifter to function correctly, the important part is its on the housing. carry on.

  2. Is it all the way hooked up? The housing needs pressure from the cable being tight to stay in. Or your housing is too short.

    It is the cable tension that keeps the housing in place, not the fit tolerance.

  4. It just slides in loose. If your housing is too short between the shifter and a stop, or the RD, it will slide out as you shift though.
