Brilliant video, i had forgotten these Platform Tickets we used to buy them at Birmingham Snow Hill (the old one) in the early 1960s Trainspotters essential I think for 1 penny Thanks for the memory jerker 😂
Im in my late fifties and I’m the opposite, as I knew about the availability of a platform ticket what I didn’t know is that it has become so difficult to purchase them
In India, surprisingly, a platform ticket often costs more than the cheapest journey ticket… in fact, the double! A local(suburban) ticket costs ₹5 or more, whereas a platform ticket costs ₹10(and sometimes as much as ₹50).
Who the f would buy a platform ticket in any other country its free so if you can spent 10 cents on a video then you could also use that money to Tavel out of the UK 🇬🇧
I bought one recently at Leeds the tickets lady gave me no issues and when I went up to the barriers it didn’t work so I had to show the ticket to the attendant and they let me in.

But you can go onto the station for free. What a waste of time 😂
Cheapest possible ticket is an Off Peak Day Return to Ely.
Erm, no.
Cheapest possible ticket would be a single.

I used to buy those at tube stations so I could wait with friends until their train came down they wouldn’t have to wait alone late at night
Spend what you have saved ob a decent haircut 😜
We typically don't sell them anymore as they're a fare dodgers paradise, but we'll sell them if we think you're genuine.

Let me guess, you further incurred the wrath of the ticket office clerk by paying for your 10p platform ticket by card.
Cathays to Cardiff Central was a cheap ticket, that actually allowed travel, and stay as long as you want.In the 1980's, at least.
I knew straight away what you were referring to.
I literally bought one of these to get into Norwich Station October 2024
It let me in the station?
