  1. Derailleur hangers can be bent enough to affect shifting while close enough to being straight that it’s not possible to tell by eye. You need a tool in order to determine if it’s good.

  2. A bent hanger isn’t something you can diagnose with a single photo. You need a hanger adjustment tool to diagnose (and straighten, if necessary).

    If you have a spirit level. Use it on the saddle to make sure the bike is level. Then using the level take a picture of the hanger with the level in shot. Should help with the perspective.

    Best you can do without the proper tool.

    It looks like it, but the angle of the picture doesn’t help.

    The only way you’ll know is by measuring it yourself or taking it somewhere to get checked and potentially worked on.

    If it’s a brand new, 90% built, box delivered bike, there’s a good chance it has been bent during transport.

    If you’re having trouble shifting into only certain gears and not all of them, your derailleur hanger is probably bent.

    It’s impossible to tell if the derailleur hanger is bent just by looking at it.
