I enjoyed: cycling along the storm surge barriers (oosterschelderkering), the Kinderdijk windmills, the fields and canals around Gouda/Utrecht.
I used warm showers which was great, so many hosts to choose from in Netherlands. Also the sand dunes near Burg Hamstede

I overlapped some of that route in 2019 – I did London to Dover on Friday morning, Dunkirk to Bruges that afternoon / evening and the Saturday finishing the journey to Amsterdam.
I had a bit of a sprint from Bruges to make the Saturday morning ferry at Breskens over to Vlissingen but flying alongside the Damm canal as the sun rose was a joy. I stopped for breakfast in Middleburg which was beautiful.
I was not however expecting the headwind all the way up through the Netherlands to Amsterdam. Going up over the storm surge barriers actually wasn’t as tortuous as the final stretch through the fields to Amsterdam.
I stopped in Delft just after the ferry at Rotterdam to enjoy the very gorgeous town but mainly for the apple cake which fuelled me for the final leg. Highly recommend it!
