I’m not a mechanic, but to my untutored eye it looks like you need to adjust your front derailleur. Just google that and you’ll find a bunch of videos that’ll show you how. Watch a few of those and look for ones with a derailleurs similar to yours.
It might (or might not) also be time to replace the chain. There are lots of videos on that too. You’ll need a special tool for that, but if you watch a video that shows how and want to try it it’s not expensive.
But as I said, I’m not a mechanic. I’m sure you’ll get better advice from someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.

Pedal forward. Works fine.
Check if rear derailleur is in the right position (straight under the cog the chain is on).
Try the same with chain on biggest chainring (front).
It is a sign of increased friction at some point of the drivetrain – could be chain, could be rear derailleur pulleys, could be freehub.
If you encounter no problems when riding – which essentially is pedaling forward, it’s not an acute problem imo.
