Bigger hammer? Make sure you are supporting the hub flanges and bang away at the axle.

  2. Not making any promises and you should check details on Mavic website before you do anything but some of their hubs have stepped axles meaning there is a flange or sometimes a circlip on the axle behind the bearing. If this is the case for yours the only way to remove the axle is to use it to press the bearing out.

However because of the damage that can be caused if bearings are pressed in or out incorrectly unless you have a bearing press or similar tool you should consider letting a shop do this.

For many casual cyclists the cost of a decent bearing press is several times what a shop would charge to do the work.
