Need help to choose. I have 2 tires and I want to put them on my gravel bike which one should be on a front tire and which on the back. I ride mainly on roads but gravel is always somewhere on my trips.
my old tires were stock and after 4k km I need to swap them i got this for a good deal and I saw many ppl using 2 different tires so I bought them. 🙂
RS on the rear. You want the more aggressive tread pattern on the front for traction.

i mean, the one on the left could probably be either, but the one on the right with the sideknobs looks better suited to use up front.

Can’t go wrong with the Swalbe G One RS’s – decent tyre for most surfaces apart from mud. Check that they are mounted the right way when you put them on (look for the rotation arrow).
Put the one with tread blocks on the back (the left one on your photo) so you can put the power down on low grip surfaces.
If you haven’t bought them yet, I highly recommend the Hutchinson Caracal Race tyres with tan sidewalls – pretty much the same kind of tyre but a little faster and slightly cheaper imo.

You are gonna get answers with either tire in back. Personally I’d put the slicker one on the back, but that’s cuz I ride in wetter conditions and I’d rather have the traction of those blocks up front.

I have a similar set of mismatched Spesh gravel tires.
Went with the knobbier one on the back to be able to claw my way up steep climbs better. That leaves the lower profile for the front which looks and feels fast.
Either way works, just depends on the type of rider you are, your confidence and type of terrain you’ll be riding.

grippy up front
smooth rolling in the rear

I run this combo, GoneR on the front and RS on the back. You can drift the bike but it is controlled and fun! Great combo for hardpack and light dust.

Hilly terrain? You want more fore-aft traction in the rear to stay hooked up in out of the saddle efforts. Flatter terrain? It matters less.

Traction for front, speed rolling for the rear.
