Privet. 15yo beginner cyclist here. This year I decided to really get into cycling – I rode bikes before, but definately not as much as now.

Bike I ride is my old parents aluminum MTB with 26" wheels (actually older then me lol), that I modified a little – new seat (previous was stolen!), fenders, bottle holders, speedometer. And this thing is still in a very good shape – it was laying in the garage for like 14 years.

Today I did a 32km ride, yestarday – 30km, 3 days ago – another 32km. All of this was done in the city and a little bit of forest. And I don't really felt tired after them, deciding I never did anything close to that in my entire life.

Offcourse I'm going to ride more and more. Cycling is fun. Especially downhills. And downstairs.

So is this good for a beginner? I think for week and lazy teenager like me – yes. Waht do you think?

Yes but, cadence wins races. Planning how to allocate energy and win the long game.

    Yes it’s good.

I started around the same age as you on my dad’s old mountain bike, and if I can give you one piece of advice, it’s to make sure you eat during your rides (focus on carbs), especially if they’re long rides with significant elevation gain. This could be sugary sports drinks, fruit jellies, etc. I’m telling you this especially if you plan on doing longer, more demanding rides because, as you said, you’ve been feeling pretty good after the rides you’ve done.

When I started out like you, I didn’t understand why I had such a terrible headache at the end of my rides and had a hard time continuing, it turned out I was hypoglycemic.

And above all, don’t forget to wear a helmet 🙂
