You are in fact right Beziers is one of the oldest cities in France however your not in the south-west of France your in Southern France your just above me I live near Perpignan that is how I know this however the bad news is Béziers will be very low key this winter Marseille a bigger city farther west of you is still active! As for the drunk Frenchmen there is no polite way of tell him you don't play games sadly sometimes you need to be rude not so much because he wants to be rude, but because he is drunk, and your to cute to not ask for the impossible, don't take it personal by the next morning he will have forgotten what a nasty man he was! Welcome to France we do have are faults alcohol being one of them! Peace to you! I forgot to add I am French and you should do what you see necessary to stop the drunk from bothering!
Great video, showing daily life and so many places to visit, I am consider a move to Beziers. Is it mostly retired people or a mix, thanks for sharing 😉
I think you are very brave to be going it alone. I did the same thing but near Bergerac but never grasped the language and returned to UK. I have tho got several French amis who I keep in touch with. 😎 Good luck with your new life
Wow, that brings back memories. A friend and I used to sell T-shirts at markets back in '90 or '91. We came all the way from Paris in a really rusty old Peugeot 204 station wagon. I haven't been back since. And yet, I live in the south now (Perpignan).
Beziers has a gorgeously restored old town and is rather chilled especially in the shoulder seasons. For more action, you need to check out Montpeller, Sete and Cap d'Agde. I recently stayed nearby for 3 months in Apr-Jun. We spent many days wandering around the city (80,000 people), river & canal system including some cycling and nearby beaches. A very underrated part of France with a lovely climate and cooling breezes. The whole coastline & wetlands from Montpellier to Perpignan is beautiful. We especially liked Nimes, Beziers and Narbonne which are all chilled but with their own personality.

Anyway, thanks for these nostalgic pictures.
We visited Beziers last April looking for relocation. We picked Nice for more amenities and have one way tickets for March.
Beziers is pretty.
