one more point – taking a U-TURN and repeating the hill climb is missing in ROUVY, but overall ROUVY is really AR immersive experience compared to the ZWIFT, i was on ZWIFT for couple of years but since 2 weeks ROUVY is really good it gives me what I want from the ride compared to ZWIFT , the biggest advantage ROUVY has over the ZWIFT the ROUTE CREATOR … I am traveling some locations in Western India will record the routes and upload soon.
I have been using ROUVY for 4 months now with a Wattbike Atom. I love it, but agree that the virtual shifting feels wrong. I’m having to shift down to the very smallest gears to climb gradients over 8%, which just isn’t right. On my normal bike, I can handle 12%+ gradients in much higher gears than this. So, although the visual realism is great, the physical simulation is not.
I decided for Rouvy. Tried Zwift for a couple weeks and it's really fun, but it feels like I'm paddling while playing the Sims. The only thing that I miss at the moment on rouvy is to have more people on the routes, apart from that it's a really fun experience. Also, the gradient vizualization on Rouvy is really nice!
Something entirely different, as a brazilian, having to pay taxes because of the foreign currency makes rouvy an even more expensive subscription if compared to zwift (but both of them cost around the same range). Wish those services were cheaper.
If the Rouvy video quality (the recording of the real life) is still not 4k and high bitrate, then it is still inferior product. You simple see the bad quality. It was the main issue I had with it.

Is this like SIM Racing for cycling? How do you turn?
So with Zwift you are have the different levels to help you decide which group or race to join. They are A,B,C,D and E. I dont see this in Rouvy.
I do not know what it means amateur racing teams on Zwift – but they seems interesting to me, could be implemented something like that in Rouvy too… But let me mention just one thing there is a team called 'Muckers' on Rouvy, it is actually a team organizing races, racing series, and also a great group of people of community. Having a team-jersey, so easy to follow them on races, especially if you have an at least 2.5-3W/Kgs. 😉
As you focused only on racing, I think you missed most of the huge advantages of being able to race in a relatively 'real' world. Zwift is (as you say) a great community game, but has just totally stagnated over the past couple of years. My reason for moving on – and being very very happy to have done so, is I'm fed up of toddling around the very limited virtual world of Zwift.
It's kinda sad ppl would burn their eye out on Zwift 8-bit graphics just to be able to say hi to another rider and not enjoy this beautiful world that rouvy lets us explore. 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🚲
I occasionally use Zwift for races but you can pretty much ride anywhere in the world with Rouvy.
I like the challenges, always some routes to ride with people around.
The initial start of Rouvy appears totally fake riders to real videos peripherally. The ads for it looked that way as well. At 74 years old, I’m more interested in riding a few hours a week and not actively racing. I’m sticking with Zwift. Thanks for this comparison video.
I recently read that Zwift is cracking down on using the Ride bike with other non-Zwift apps. Any info on this?
I was a film & game animator/artist for 20yr! I hate Zwift with a passion! The look, sound, the 8bit palette 🎨! It just feels cheap! The rendering looks like circa 1990s! Sans refractions, reflections, good shading, solid shadows, never mind any raytraced effects!!
On Rouvy you can ride more local rides to your location, at one time you could record your own real ride and submit for others to ride, they may have brought the back.
What didn't like about zwift when I tried it was not being allowed to access the entire platform till I met certain criteria, forcing you into ride with so many others it wasn't enjoyable, this may have been changed since my testing it .

Zwifted for years.Rouvy for me. I was tired of obvious cheaters and the look and feel is more suited for gamers.
Rouvy’s ghost riders alone is worth it. Keeps me focused and motivated.
I'll try rouvy as I don't like at the the 10 years old graphic of Zwift (which btw as a premium/leader platform is totally surprising)

Appreciated the comparison but surprised almost no comment on the real world graphics for actual routes/stages including ability to upload your own personal routes? This is an masssive improvement over zwift which looks cartoonish in comparison. I am considering dropping zwift for rouvy especially as of December to January I've had terrible connection problems with zwift bluetooth.

Which one make you a stronger rider tho? I’m using trainer road and the gains are unreal! You just have to bring along your entertainment. Does trainer road plugin with rouvy that would be a big win
I raced mountain bikes competitively decades ago and have no interest in spending the time and effort necessary to do that. I just want to improve my fitness. I've been Zwifting for a couple of years (on the Zwift Hub One, which is now apparently the Wahoo Kickr Core), and although it's much better than an old school trainer (such as rollers), the cheesy, cartoonish scenery (especially the ridiculous "Tron world" in the Climb Portal) is not a plus. Also, I have no interest in the social aspect. As said, I just want to ride to get fitter, not race or chase badges, challenges, etc. (unlocking new virtual gear isn't a life goal). GTK that the virtual shifting works, and it's NBD that Zwift Play only changes gears, as I only got that because the Click frequently malfunctioned (although it is nice to be able to U-turn if you're spinning down to recover and you find yourself on a KOM). Running out of gears on long, steep downhills is NBD, as IRL I'd be tucking/recovering once I got above c.130 rpm anyway. The biggest thing for me has to be the scenery, for immersion, minimizing the boredom factor, and the virtual tour aspects. One of the things that makes Microsoft's latest Flight Simulator (2024) so good is how accurately it renders the real world, for both visual navigation and "virtual tourism." If you're planning to go somewhere (or just want to se what a place looks like), it looks like Rouvy lets you do this at ground level. The only thing is, as they use actual footage, you're limited as to where you can go. If either they or Zwift used photogrammetry (as does MSFS 2024), then you could ride anywhere (on- or off-road, turn wherever, turn around, etc.). THAT would be game-changing. I'll at least check out the seven-day trial. Thanks for sharing your experience/opinions.
I loved Rouvy when i used it but after i cancelled, customer service was awful. It's six months later and they are still taking my money but every month they say they will refund me and stop payment. I don't think anybody speaks english and understand what i am saying.
I've been using zwift for intervals on my treadmill.
Planning on getting stationary bike for zwift but looks like rouvy is an option as well…
Chances are, I'd use zwift for my treadmill being rouvy doesn't seem have anything for treadmills from what I've seen and rouvy for biking.

I use Rouvy with a classic trainer and a USB ANT+ USB sensor on my PC. It works great with Rouvy and I really like the realism. I actually like riding a trainer now.

One thing I like about the classic trainer is shifting is just like on the road. I tried virtual shifting with a friends setup and thought it was very realistic.
Thank you for your video. I am considering getting a trainer and for me the look and feel of Rouvy would be a difference maker. For me the game look of Swift is a turn off. Additionally I think the AR technology is only getting better and it will reflect on a more realistic ride on Rouvy.

Rouvy is more realistic, beutifull and I just love the fact you can ride real routes all over the world with Strava segments in.
