Here in the United States we don’t really understand what royalty is like. Today I want to check out this video of a regular guy randomly bumping into King Charles on a bike ride. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

  1. This is very normal, the late queen would often go for a walk around the Balmoral estate, she might have had a single body guard with her, but thats all.

  2. Yes, I think they are like that when going about daily business in public. But you have to remember that Charles is a man whose valet squeezes his toothpaste onto the brush for him, and irons his shoelaces daily… At that point, not that 'normal'…

  3. You should do a video on London's Metropolitan Police's 'Special Escort Group'. They are armed police (pistols only) on white motorcycles, with just acme whistles to control traffic. But they get VIPs through London really, really fast and very, very safely. They don't close roads, they simply take control at junctions. And in rare cases they will take a lane of oncoming traffic. The only goal is to keep moving, as that makes ambushes really hard!
I've seen the SEG in action only 3 times, but most people don't even notice them as they drive their VIP through.

  4. If you watch the whole Video, before they met the King, they passed by 3 dark tinted SUVs just a few minutes before. The guards most likely checked them out, before letting them pass.

Anyway, British Intelligence, namely MI5 , knew in advance who are targets for Assassinations in the UK, usually the Prime Minister. The King and his family are quite low in the list.

  5. Must be an European thing. While we don't have royalty or nobility in my country, you do come across high-up politicians on a regular. Be it the then-time minister of Foreign Affairs rushing across the market place, trying to get out of the rain or the chief of police walking among the other hordes of overheated everyday people in his swimming trunks for a quick dip in the river, it is really just another Tuesday.

  6. Passed the late Queen on a country footpath, but didn't want to bother her, she had far too many public interactions to be bothered when she was out having a walk on her own. We passed each other and went on our separate ways. Neither of us attended by other persons 🤣

  7. Yeah the royal family including its head at any given point, are just people. They get some of their stuff paid for by doing official functions and waving at stuff to boost tourism, but they don’t have any power, and can’t do anything except wave at stuff and give an occasional speech.
The power of the crown is in parliament, and the monarch and monarchy have absolutely no say in it whatsoever. They’re just our country’s mascots, nothing more.
If we replaced them with some cheerleaders as long as tourism remained the same it would make no difference and would have the same amount of power to affect politics.

  8. There's a story about the Windsor Horse Show one year in the 1980s when Nancy Reagan was visiting. She arrived in a big motorcade surrounded by security and various functionaries. A bit late Queen Elizabeth drove in, alone, in a station wagon.

  9. King Charles came to East Sussex last week to one of our national parks which has chalk sea cliffs that look out on to the English Channel and next land looking south bèing France. Two women who were walking along the path, said to another coupe coming in the other direction smiled and said "By the way King Charles is just along there!". They thought the women were joking till they met him themselves! 😂

  10. Balmoral is a large estate in Scotland, Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert bought the estate and it was gifted to Queen Victoria so it doesn’t belongs to Monarchy. Unlike Buckingham palace and Windsor castle.

  11. True King raised with manners and responsibility. Queen Elizabeth II was absolutely beloved for a reason and King Charles III clearly takes after his mum.

  12. Balmoral is King's Estate in Scotland its also where Queen Elizabeth died in 2022 originally bought by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert

  13. I met his mum the queen when I was 6 years old and she was on her silver jubilee tour of the UK in 1977.
she came to our school because it had just been opened and was very modern for the time, she was a lovely lady and very funny and spent a good 30 minutes with the kids talking to us, asking us all what we wanted to be when we grew up and making silly jokes
every kid in the school got a commemorative coin, it was a huge silver coin with a relief of the queen on horseback (I still have mine to this day)

she was eventually on the throne for 70 years and you don't even need to say her name and people know who you're talking about, she was always just known worldwide as THE Queen.
she's the second longest serving monarch in history after louis the 14th of France who ruled for 72 years

the balmoral estate belongs to the royal family, but in Scotland we have the right to roam on practically all land even if it's privately owned by a king 🙂 (the royal family would never try and stop you from crossing that land because legally they cannot) and charles is a huge advocate for the right to roam for all citizens so he's happy for people to roam or bike on his land.

exceptions of places you can't roam would be walled/fenced gardens connected to peoples property, caravan parks (because people in their caravans or tents have a right to privacy) fields with actively growing crops but you can use the field margins as long as you don't do any damage to the crops, farmyards, school grounds (when classes are happening) and industrial sites like quarries (for safety reasons) airfields and military bases are also off limits, again for safety reasons.
in most areas it's forbidden to use a motor vehicle like a dirt bike or whatever on private land. you would need to be in a designated area or get permission from the land owner to do that.

everywhere else is fair game as long as you respect the countryside and any wildlife living there, it's a true land of the free

  14. I remember the late Princess Di took young William and Harry to a high street McDonalds. She just wanted the children to experience normal life.

Royalty around Europe ride bikes around their cities. No guards, no hidden snipers… just left to interact with the public.

What might seem weird to Americans is pretty normal here.

  15. One of the things the Queen Elizabeth and King Charles (and William and Catherine) are super talented at is casual conversation. They have learned to lead the conversation and give detailed answers as they know people are nervous around them.

  16. When Prince William and princess Kate lived here on Anglesey with us they shopped in normal shops with the local people and we're often see around. People just mostly left them to it. I've been at a music festival at the same time Prince William was there. I've also been to a garden party at Buckingham Palace, I was mere inches away from the queen and Prince Philip, I also met princess Ann among others that day

  17. What on earth do you expect ? For goodness sake, he's just taking a walk and yes he is very down to earth and most definitely NOT like trump. That's the biggest insult you could throw at our King. I think that's why 'celebrities' feel safe here, no one takes any notice of them and respects their space.

  18. This is what’s most valuable about the Royal Family. They are raised to serve!! They aren’t swayed by monetary gain because they can’t be bought.. unlike the “spares” who throughout history, have been hugely problematic and the biggest threats to their “in line to the throne” siblings!! King Charles is an incredibly intelligent, well read and innovative person. He is the one who first raised the alarm of global warming, when industry was working hard to put the concept down. He gathered Al Gore, the heads of South American nations on the royal yacht Britannia in the Amazon river to show the actual effects!!

  19. The Royal family is the most privilaged middle class family. As the generations go on they are losing that sense of privilage, William and Kate especially are very down to earth. The late Queem would visit the local village store when in Balmoral. Tupperware on the table at breakfast and plastic cutlery for picnics. They are famous, but not special, in the way politicians, sports people and "celebrities" think they are.

  20. This is one those things "foreigners" do that americans have trouble understanding. It's called respect for others, no matter what walk of life you are from

  21. He's always been down to earth guy with a great sense of humour. And he is a grandad and according to Camilla he plays with the grandkids on the floor. I think he does all the stuff with his grandkids he missed out on as a kid himself. 20 years ago you would have bumped into the Queen walking her dogs.

  22. He is exactly like his Mother Queen Elizabeth the second. She always went out for walks like the King is there. They talk with ordinary people as they both are not snooties that look down on civilians. Belmorel is the Home they both preferred and was their major get away from society. It is also the home Queen Elizabeth chose to pass away at. Likely another reason King Charles prefers it also as it was so close to his mothers heart as well. They spent major family time there while all the kids in the family were growing up. The path cuts through the estate and lands which is 50. 000 acres lol.

  23. You konw: We as Europeans find it disturbing that your demonstrations against Trump are called: NO KINGS. We do love our monarchies here in Europe. There is no issue with totalitarianism. And the word King (or queen, my country has had three queens after another and the future monarch will be a queen too) doesn't have the negative connotation that you Americans have. I would prefer: NO TYRANTS.
