Heya, I was recently gifted this 2001 kona cinder cone. Due to the bikes age, it is still on original hydraulic fluid. However, the hydraulic fluids seem to have become hydraulic solids over the 25 years this has existed for. The brakes are seized. Is there any hope left for these or do I just get new ones??

Time for new brakes
Do you know it is recommanded to perform an hydraulic bleed once a year…
It may be ok (but not recommanded) to skip it a year or two but 25… Yeah, it’s dead…
Yes, you need new brakes. You could spend ages hunting down some well-maintained or NOS brakes that match the original… or you could pay a lot less for a pair of Shimano BR-MT200 and have great braking for years. Oh, and make sure you get new rotors and the right adapters for whatever mounting system is used on the frame and forks.
