Ukrainians are brave people, but Ukraine was safer being a neutral country. The US promises from 2008, to get Ukraine in Nato ended good relations with Russia and that was a terrible mistake for everyone. Ukraine's parliament voted out neutrality from their constitution in 2014. Before 2014 there were no Russian invasions. Austria, Sweden and Finland were neutral for decades ,but still members of the EU. That would have been better path for Ukraine. Russia made it clear from 1991 to now they didn't want US/Nato missile bases near their borders , but no one listened. In 1990, US & EU leader promises to Russia not to expand Nato Eastward were false promises.
