First of all, this is a DIY project, forgive my ignorance in any cases. I am building my new titanium bike, from projecting the logos, creating the stencils and cutting them (with the plotter) to later anodize it all myself. Now I am under the building process, I have just installed the headset cups (as on the picture). Next step is putting all the headset together to measure the fork length and see where I am going to cut it. To do that obviously I need to have all pieces together, my questions to you guys is: does this race crown have to be pressed in? It is not a split crown race, I was told to split it on a forum on Facebook, but I also heard it is not a good idea, I’ve ready a PVC pipe and a mallet and it’ll do it. If you see the measurements they the same size, so they should fit, this crown race came with the fork though. Does this fork require this race crown ? And does it have to be pressed in? Thanks for any inputs and advice.
Cheers 🍻

It needs to be hammered in. You can get a specific tool, or something pvc pipe works.
Absolutely do NOT split it. Its a press fit, so it should hammer on.
The lightest film of grease on the two faces and hammer it home
Last time I installed a press fit crown race I used the pipe from my vacuum cleaner which did the job perfectly. Just fit whatever suitably sized tube over the fork’s steerer tube, turn the fork upside down and whack whatever tube you’re using for the job off the floor (note it should be longer then the steerer tube), and it should do the job perfectly.
