Also if the tanks are the same height or the second tank is taller, you can leave the syphon in place and it will always keep the water at the same level.
If the first tank is taller make sure to set the float valve at the highest level the second tank can get without overflow

Go one step further. Do the same to the second trough and you have CIRCULATING MOVING WATER. The Cattle will Love you for it β€
