So originally, for the past few weeks I was dealing with an issue with my wheel wobbling and it would make unpleasant sounds whenever you applied the slightest impact on it cause the wheel would rattle around the axle probably cause something was loose.

I think the fix was just to tighten that hex nut on the axle in the photo? Unfortunately I didn’t have the right size wrench to try it and I was going to ask about it on this subreddit but I thought I would just deal with it tomorrow and took it for a ride.

But shortly into the session, this washer thing came completely loose, by the time I noticed I saw that there was 2 ball bearings on the top part and several ball bearings tucked snuggly inside of the hub on the lower half as you can see from the picture.

Idk if I lost any ball bearings by the time I noticed. Don’t know how the 2 ball bearings got to the top if they were supposed to be inside, cause I could not push it back in at all.

But yea what’s the fix here?

The price to quality ratio these days in bmx has gotten very good in the past 20 years. Id say just buy a new wheel if you have the money tbh, its a good investment and will last you a long time and save you the trouble of fixing/replacing the issue on your wheel now

The fix would be to buy new ball bearing to replace the damaged ones and get correct torque on the cones.

The way to not have to fix this again would be to upgrade the hub for one with cartridge bearings.
