I’m 6’, 250lbs. Used to be a fairly active bicycle rider, currently have a Kona Big Kahuna and a Cannondale quick in the stable. Sold my Cannondale CAAD 8 years ago when I fell in love with MTBing.
Fast forward 10 years, suffered Achilles injury and back injury, and am looking to get back into riding again but would prefer a more upright position for more casual rides with my daughter and if I get back into riding I can always jump on the Cannondale for a better geared option for longer rides.
Just so happened there’s 2 Specialized Rolls close to me that I’m looking at today. The black one is a 2.0 I believe. Mechanical Disc brakes 1×7 gearing. Seller says it looks “brand new” The other is a Roll Sport (I think) owner claims it has hydraulic disc and shock absorber seatpost, 9×3 gearing. Frame, paint has scratches etc, but mechanically perfect.
Both wanted $500 and I was able to get them down to $400 via messages, a part of me thinks there’s better value in the components of the Sport and another part of me values the “look and overall condition” of the bike which I’m thinking is going to favor the 2.0… I fell $400 is on the high end for a used Roll and am planning on offering $350 in person which I feel is a good deal on my part.
I’m torn between the 2, any advice would be appreciated

The 1×7 tourney gears are junk and usually come with a screw on freewheel. Really let’s down what is otherwise a great bike. I would recommend the 9×3 one for sure just for reliability!
