So I’ve seen some posts now talking about how cyclocross bikes aren’t conducive to bike packing due to few mounting points and aggressive geometry. Unfortunately the only two bikes I have are my Canyon Ultimate and my Blue XC bike. Me and a buddy are planning a 3 day, 2 night bike packing trip this summer and I plan on using the XC bike given its ability to use gravel tires. Any suggestions on how to best outfit it? Obviously the mounting points are an issue, is the brake cabling going to be an issue as well? What things should I consider? Any advice on how I can make this work would be greatly appreciated.

No problem at all as long as you have bags with straps. You won’t be able to mount them low for a better weight distribution, but I don’t feel like it affects the handling too much.
CX Bikes are of course not the best for a 10 day trip on flat straight roads.
Otherwise a CX is just as good. My wife uses her CX bike for 2-3 trips on forest service roads and it works just fine!
