I used drain cleaner, namely sodium hydroxide. it took about an 8 minute soak and scotch pad after. I could sand and polish but I don't feel like it. the laser etching remains, but thankfully less visible
This was the vibe I was going for with my cheap bike build off – it’s a neat aesthetic.

Never seen those cranks in Aliex before. What brand was it?

I’d highly recommend you follow up with some Mothers mag and aluminum polish. Its pretty cheap and easy to find and will make a huge difference in like 3 minutes. Just slap it on, rub it in, and wipe it off. Shit will look like you polished it for hours. I do this with all my stripped anodized parts.
