Countryside Cycling from Barnsley to Sheffield #18

*This one’s a one-way mission to Sheffield… on a noble quest to retrieve my glasses from a friend. *

We kick off on familiar ground along the Trans Pennine Trail, before heading into Wombwell Woods for the first time. Things start to get tough as me and my poor bike begin to struggle with the climbs from Elsecar to Tankersley – and Sheffield doesn’t exactly make it easier. I really need to remember to fully charge my bike…

Thankfully, the Blackburn Valley Trail offers a bit of relief before we hit the chaos of Sheffield streets. Just when I’m about to pack it in, I stumble across Parkwood Springs — a brilliant little downhill trail that completely lifts my spirits.

We wrap up the day with a few well-earned pints and a catch-up with an old mate.
Then it’s time to drag broken body and dead e-bike back home on the train.
