  1. I ordered a Haro Daley from Erik’s bike shop in Minnesota. The bike arrived with what appears to be a scratch, or it could be a crack. Attached is a picture of the condition and the response from Erik’s bike shop indicating that all it needs is some black nail polish..

I’ve ordered MTBs online before, but this is the first that I receive with damage.

Has anyone had experience with this type of issue? Does it appear to be a superficial scratch? Does the store’s response seem reasonable?

Looks like a scratch. I can’t imagine how it would crack in shipping without some major damage to the box. Also if there are no dents and the frame is true, probably just a scratch.

Take the 25 and ride it.

Back in the day (early 2000s), every bike came with a little jar of touch up paint, half the size of a nail polish jar. We’d probably touch up every 20th bike or so when building it. Bike companies cut costs and no longer ship touch up paint.

I buy car touch up paint for my frames. A little more expensive, but the match and quality is better than nail polish.

It’s a fucking scratch. Wait till you ride and get an even bigger scratch. You’ll fall to fucking pieces with grief

  4. My bike came with a paint chip on the seat stay, I didn’t think anything of it since it’s getting more scratches when riding anyway. Take those 25 dollars, touch it up with the nail polish and send it.
