Hi. I have been riding bikes for over 10 years now and last month I decided I wanted to do a custom build for the first time in my life. Things did not go as smooth as I planned. Definitely had days where anger got the best of me and wanted to throw the bike in the trash lol All worth it in the end though. I learned a lot.
Went for an Emerald with Bronze look. I think it came out fantastic.
White seat is not by choice. I just got tired of dumping money into this bike and used a seat I had. Will put on a black seat when the wife won't kill me for another credit card charge.
I set out with a budget of $2500-$3000. Totally went over. Especially since I broke a DI2 battery like an idiot.
I made sure to only put high end parts on the bike. Did not cheap out anywhere. Crazy to think that 105 is high end now since I've been riding ultegra bikes for years. They just did not cost as much 5+ years ago second hand.
I also found a wheel builder that hooked me up with Reserver 40|44 GR wheels for $1000 brand new with DT 350 54T hubs. That saved me a huge chunk on this build.
Build:
– Niner RLT 9 Steel 59CM
– Reserver 40|44 GR with DT350 54T Hubs
– Ritchey Venturmax carbon bars
– Shimano 105 Di2 groupset – upgraded to Dura ace rotors (For the looks lol)
– Michelin Power 48C tires
– Niner RDO carbon seat post
– Industry Nine Bronze Stem
