I have a Shimano FC-U6000-L 36-22T I'm using for a build. It has a 64 BCD small chainring and a 96 BCD large chainring, both asymmetric 4-bolt. It seems like the whole point of bolt-on chainrings is that they're replaceable, and I was hoping to take advantage of this to play around with some different tooth counts.

The problem is, I can't seem to find these chainrings anywhere? Retailers don't seem to sell OEM replacements. 3rd party chainring manufacturers (Wolf Tooth, Garbaruk, etc) seem to only sell 1x narrow-wide chainrings. When I resort to hunting on AliExpress, I can find 96 BCD chainrings, but every 64 BCD one I can find has symmetrical bolt holes. I wondered if the 46-30T crankset variant (with 110 / 80 BCD) would've been a better choice, but 80 BCD just doesn't seem to exist at all.

Is there somewhere I can hunt for these chainrings that I haven't found? Can bike shops obtain these chainrings in ways I can't seem to find as a consumer (presumably only in the standard tooth counts Shimano provides)? Or is it basically pointless that this crankset is sold with bolted-on chainrings rather than just welding them on?

  1. Looks like there are Shimano chainrings available for 64 asymmetric on b2b websites at least. And 96 for sure. SLX M7000 is the main thing you’d be looking for I think, to be LG compatible

  2. I see them in stock at a bunch of online retailers in the EU and UK, so they definitely exist, more likely your local shops just for some reason don’t stock them at the moment.
