Hi everyone! I’ve been commuting on a bike for 4 years in Boston and am very comfortable on this 1990’s Trek Antelope. It is very heavy, having a solid steel frame, so it can be more of a workout when riding. I want to start bikepacking and I can’t afford to buy a bike just for that right now. Could this be suitable for a two or three day trip on mostly pavement? Thank you!

Looks good to me! The best bike is gonna be the one you’re comfortable on. Steel frame is pretty common for touring bikes.
And looks like you’ve already got a rear rack. Go for it!
Definitely! As they say, the best bikepacking bike is the one you have.
send it!
Honestly, this is absolutely perfect. I used a very similar old steel bike for my first trips and it was all I needed.
I don’t see why not! I hope you have a ton of fun, OP
My buddy road across America with a Trek like that. Panniers are great for road touring, but not so great for single tracks in the woods. So, I would stick to pavement and easy gravel paths.
