After weeks of bad weather, we finally get one of the first proper sunny days of the year, so I headed out for a relaxed mountain bike / cycling ride around County Durham to enjoy the dry trails and make the most of the sunshine. ☀️🚴‍♂️

This ride takes in some familiar routes as well as quite a few trails I hadn’t explored before, with the usual wrong turns, random chat, and a well-earned coffee stop along the way. Nothing beats riding in the sunshine after a long wet winter — hopefully this gives you hope that Spring is on the way!

Routes featured in this ride include:

Lanchester Valley Route
Durham Riverside
Crowtrees Nature Reserve
Raisby Way
Kelloe Way
Hart to Haswell Path

I also stop for a quick brew on the stove and enjoy the peace and quiet of the trails. These are some of my favourite local cycling routes in County Durham, UK, perfect for gravel bikes, mountain bikes, or relaxed bikepacking rides.

Leave a comment as I love the interaction with viewers!

The GPX route which is about 60 miles is below if you want to ride or adapt it.
