I recently purchased the Brooks B17 saddle, and it not only looks stunning but also feels good so far. I’ve been researching for the past two weeks, and the B17 and C17 were the main contenders. Ultimately, I chose the B17, but I was still apprehensive due to videos and posts I’ve seen. People seemed to have mixed opinions about it, with some loving it and others not. However, I managed to get an incredible deal thanks to the REI Co-op sale, so I decided to give it a try. I’ve only ridden it once about 5 miles, and it seems to be quite similar to the saddle I had before the B17. As I’ve heard, it takes time for the leather to break in and feel even better. I can’t wait for that to happen!

  1. I’ve always found the B17 to be comfortable right out of the box, never related to the common break-in period that some prefer… I use a C17 also, but I think the leather is so much more comfortable. Different aesthetics for different types of builds, I suppose. Maybe one day I’ll shell out for the hammered copper rivet version. Hope you continue to enjoy!

Congrats on the upgrade! Nothing says ‘I’m serious about xbiking’ like a fresh leather saddle. Your ass will thank you in 500 km.. or curse you fiirst What model did you go with?

I got the same saddle. Really feels great out of the box and gets even better with time. Happy riding!

Sweet. I love the shape of the B17. I happen to prefer the cambium versions these days with the easier maintenance and weather resistance, but that leather will be great once you work it in (and, honestly, it works you in). One thing though, thieves love a fresh Brooks. I’d grab some security bolts or something of the like if you plan to lock this one up.
