Is this the wildest eMTB you’ve ever seen?! Up Next 👉 https://youtu.be/HkGWbAvGrz0

Could this be the most unique looking eMTB on the market? Yes, it looks pretty out there, but that’s not for show.
Shuvl’s designers wanted to emulate the chassis found on motorbikes. Why? Well if they work for machines with two wheels and a motor, they should work whether they’re petrol driven monsters, or pedal assist eMTBs, right?
On top of that, the bike has modular motor mounts, meaning this electric mountain bike can be fitted with a range of motors. It’ll come with Bosch to start with, but pretty much any other motor could be fitted, ensuring it’s futureproof and adaptable.
We chatted to Joe McEwan, the man who’s also behind the Starling Cycles brand, to find out more about this feature-rich eMTB, coming to a trail near you soon…

Frames that can take any motor is the way forward… OR motor manufacturers should use the same fixing pattern making it easy to keep these bikes alive beyond 5 years..
I think it looks rad
Avinox heaven…..nice idea switch motor test bike
Superb. Self builders dream platform. Super seat angle. Spot on.
Fair play that's a good concept. I actually like the look of the frame, looks strong as, exposed to not overheat as easy is really good aswell..
Very interested to see how this rides
Why couldn't they mount the battery on top of a single tube? I'm not convinced about the need for double tubes. Looks weird. But I do like a lot of the things he's saying. External components are definitely the way to go. Integrated stuff just makes it harder to do maintenance.
Music is annoying, no need.
While the optics can be dividing, I personally like it. The concept and execution is amazing, just maximise the dropper length and make it possible to add a decent sized water bottle.
Comming from an motorcycle background, this is to me the best approch for an e-bike. Keep the bike, swap the motor when a new one is needed or wanted…. Please stay under 10k and I buy one 😉
Would be very interested in the weight. If its 25kgs thats competitive and awesome. If its 30 kgs plus its an issue ….
Double downtube Balfa BB7 ebike.
Great concept overall, makes so much sense. Gotta cleanup some of those wires, don't want the derailluer wiring to get snagged. Also where would the electronics for the motor go (e.g. Kiox 400 for the Bosch)? Hopefully going into production weight can be reduced. If someone can make a decent e-gearmotor, the combo would be awesome.
Nice project
I still think this style of bike begs for a gearbox-motor unit like the Pinion offering. That makes it even more “moto”. Loving this no-nonsense approach. The lack of funcitonal sustainability of e-bikes has been a turn-off to me for a long time. The 2-3 year electronics lifespan is unacceptable.
Love it, makes total sense to me 👏
This design is the dream for us frozen climate riders, who regularly remove the battery for indoor charging. Factor in future proof motor/battey options and you really have a winner here.
The one pretty serious issue, is the extremely limited insertion depth of the dropper post…
German here: That’s the first time I hear about laws like that.
Nice bike tho 🤙
The bike and the concept behind it is definitely interesting, but please explain, why is it mandatory to ruin every video with some stupid background "music"?
the front triangel is great – showing the machine parts and not hide them away is pretty nice – very accessible to maintain
i personaly don't like single pivot swingarms – but this is a totally different debate…
Looks awesome, but the prices people are charging ruins all hope for enduro e-bikes
Severn Beach😊
A new species is born
Chubes
Love his main brand this is so cool, well done Joe🎉
doskonała geometria – nie mogę się doczekać produktu finalnego
Amazing looking bike with a sustainable solution for future motors and batteries. Being one of the few owning a sidecar mountain bike the double downtube would be an excellent base to mount a sidecar too! Probably not everyone's first thought!
