Hi there,

it is me again with another question. I am still in the process to determine what my new build is gonna be.

I really just wanna ride a bike made from steel and a steel fork, so there are a few options to choose from. For a while now, I have been looking at this model by just bikes from Berlin.

It ticks most of the boxes:

  1. steel frame and fork
  2. external routing
  3. flat mounts
  4. enough eyelets for pretty much anything (fenders, racks)
  5. thru axle
  6. replaceable derailleur hanger

At first I discarded the idea to buy this frame kit, but comparing it to bigger manufacturers, the weight seems to be very similar even compared to the ones made by big name brands. It looks bland, but it I see it as a canvas for whatever I am going to build. Luckily I have seen one in real life, as a guy I know bought their more sportive/aggressive gravel variant (the JB04) and the frame looks it is made quite decently and rode very well.

Still, I have no first experience with the brand nor the model itself. My goal is to build a bike that is capable to tour the world with. So does anyone have this model and did take it for a 10,000km spin and can tell me about their experience?

Thx again, you have been very helpful!

I run this as a commuter. It’s pretty great. One kinda annoying thing was that one of the rack bolt holes on the seat stays was a bit misaligned. Since the seatpost clamp has an uncommon 30mm diameter i couldn’t use a clamp with bolt holes. But I got a rack with a bit more flexible struts to fix the issue. Also the brake mount surfaces on the fork were a bit rough. One side was about a millimeter taller than the other so it needed some work. I couldn’t be arsed to face it so I just used a washer to get it aligned.
