Hi, after replacing my drivetrain for the first time I decided to follow the recommendations from the SRAM app. The bike is an Orbea Terra M31e Team with a 420 mm chainstay and a 44T front chainring. According to the app, I should use a 118‑link chain – so I shortened it to that length. However, when I shift onto the largest cog at the back (10T), I have the impression that the chain is too long. Has anyone experienced differences between the chain length suggested by the app and the classic sizing method?

Is your chain rubbing at 10T? If it’s not it’s fine.
The little sag in the chain in your highest gear is a clue, along with the fact that the cage is just over 90° in your lowest gear. If I were you, I’d remove 1 link.
Yeah definitely too long. Remove a pair of links and see from there.
What is the deal with the rims…?
How many links was the chain you took off?
You can use the old chain and compare with the new.
At the smallest 10T cog, the chain is too long.
Your B-tension looks fine, though.
I have the app, the measuring tool is for full mount systems. So for the new transmisiom derailleurs.
Yours is a normal derailleur hunger derailleur, so you go with the classic big-big +4 links (two inner + two outer) method.
I’m not sure if in Sram gravel derailleurs you are supposed to add +4 (so it is in shimano) so go with +6 (like in campa ekarGT) and worst case you cut again.
Or read the manual to get the number right immediately.
The tool is for transmission. This is not transmission. Follow the manual for that derailleur, definitely going to be shorter.
The no. of link from the app is for full mount derailleur. Wrap your chain around the chainring and largest cassette without going through the derailleur and add 4 links.
Looks like it just needs a little bit more Tension
cut 2 links. one outer and one inner.
