Is this tire defective? As best as I can tell the brad is perfectly seated, but there is a warp in the tire. When I got it on last week I didn’t notice any issue and then the tire started riding bumpy all of a sudden during my ride today. While troubleshooting, everything I can across suggested that the bead wasn’t seated correctly, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here. Or are my eyes bad?
Running schwalbe one pro TLE and schwalbe tubes. Wheel is dt swiss arc 1600 dicut and yes my valve stem is too short.

Looks like a defect, I’d try and get it warrantied
It is defective. I woulf bring it back. The shop you got it from will probably replace it because they will get money from schwalbe.
Edit* if you got it online I think shwalbe will cover this either way
Many riders (esp tourists) have a bromance with Schwalbe, but I had a similar defect on my Schwalbe tire. And no it wasn’t counterfeit (well unless BikeTiresDirect is selling counterfeit tires).
The nylon casing split and has created this “herniated” warp.
Usually from hard impact (pothole, uneven road, train tracks, etc etc)
Cannot rule out manufacturing defect, but in my 25+ years as a mechanic, this is usually impact related
However, even if was not from a defect but just bad luck riding, the tire is new enough to qualify as a warranty replacement. Schwalbe makes great stuff and has a kick ass customer service/warranty crew.
Fill out the [warranty form](https://www.schwalbetires.com/warranty/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23268580042&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9-PNBhDfARIsABHN6-2rzIa8u_slq1U1wQnVTCi5dRLaZicIXYU1fzSpm_FIUeNvSSvKdK8aAubvEALw_wcB) and they’ll take care of you 👍
The carcass…she is failing.
If it’s a recently purchased tire you should be able to get it replaced under warranty.
Probably defective as others are saying But if it is actually a freshly installed tire and you aren’t 100% sure it was checked when the tire was installed, it could also be that the inner tube is folded/bunched up there and causing the bulge.
