Leave a note, offer to take the bike off their hands for a bit of money.

  2. Double U-lock and a quick release seatclamp tells me it’s more likely the owner removed the seat to prevent theft.

Thats gotta be a commuter who parks in the same spot everyday and takes their saddle to prevent saddle theft.

Considering it has that new looking altus rear derailleur, someone has taken it into some shop to get it installed. Probably not someone who understands that much about bikes, but just wanted it fixed up for riding.

Dang that was my first bike I bought with my own money in high school, with the same color way. If it is the same steel tubing I had, it’s pretty heavy FYI. A housemate threw mine out after it spent a period of time in the elements 😭Please send it my love 😉

  6. I had a Tequesta that I bought as a frame. They’re mid range GT bikes. Tange Cromo tubes. The weight depends on the components. I believe stock parts were steel.

  8. The socially responsible thing would be to cover the seattube opening with a plastic bag.
