My daughter got her first bike for Christmas and has been riding it every day since, she's totally in love with it. Today when she was riding the pedals came loose as shown in the video.
It was a second-hand bike so it was a bit worn down when I got it, but it has been working fine till now. Buying another bike isn't an option right now, so I'm hoping there's a cheap and easy way to fix this.
If you can give any advice to help me fix it, you'll absolutely make my daughter's day – thank you!

Looks like a 1-piece “Ashtabula” crank came loose. The other side has nut and lock ring that need tightening. Pretty easy. Loosen it a bit more to see if that ball bearing retainer is ok or needs replacing. Stick a blob of grease in both sides while you’re there.
Look up a video for
1-piece Ashtabula crank
Your daughter’s 1 piece crank needs new bearings. I can see the cage in the photo and video is both torn and missing bearings. It’s not a difficult fix even with minimal tools. I did it for years with an adjustable and a flathead. Look up on YouTube how to remove a one piece crank. You’ll need grease and a new set of bearings and you’ll be off to the races! She must really love her bike, I used to wear through caged bearings constantly too!
I would also replace the entire drivetrain. Front sprocket looks to be seriously worn, huge gap between the teeth.
