Picked up this cool 1996 Trek 970 ZX in great condition from first owner. The handlebar has been cut short and cantilevers were replaced by v-brakes quite soon after initial purchase. Aiming to convert it to gravel or city cruiser. Looking for cool ideas to spice it up!

DAMN! That thing is sick. I LOVE a chrome rig. I’d say maybe just bars and touch points. You thinking flat bar gravel bike or drops?
I ran into a free 750 Multitrack yesterday in good condition (and lots of silver/chrome bits). It’s a size too big for me (on paper), but I’m gonna try it out as a gravel-ish / commuter-type as well. I want to put some.brakes on it, so good to know that can be done.
