I had what would definitely be considered a vintage mountain bike by todays standards in HS. Now that I’m officially in my 40s I find myself missing the simplicity of hoping on a bike and listening to the rhythmic clicks and clacks while shifting through gears paired with the dreamy drone of rubber on road.
I stumbled across wavey wheelies, mull3tmechanic, and bikefarmer on instagram about a week ago and son of a bitch….I’m hooked.
After scouring FB marketplace and offerup endlessly the last couple of days I found a 90s Hard Rock that was right up my alley. White and pink colorway, definitely a project but I’m cheap and and a sucker for self-inflicted pain and suffering. It was 60 bucks and 25 mins away…
I got up this morning all set to meet the seller and decided, WTH, lemme check out some local garage sales.
After an hour or so of hunting I was all set to give up but saw one last sign…
“Bikes – $20 each”
Stoked to find this and aside from needing new almost everything I can’t wait to get started.
Any tips, suggestions, and sassy opinions welcome.
LFG…

I’m a late diagnosed ADHDer and my collection multiplied faster than rabbits
Welcome to the club. Don’t go crazy and upgrade to all the expensive crap right away. Tune the bike up & replace stuff slowly as needed. Also, enjoy riding it!
also, any seat recomendation? I don’t know much but I know this ain’t it…
Hopefully it is. Tuning/tweaking/rebuilding checks so many of my adhd boxes. Riding checks most of the rest. You’re in for a good time.
I’d get rid of the frame and build the new bike around the saddle.
also. just want to say, I dont IDGAF about whats cool, IGAF about what works.
Oh shit I understand
