A buddy of mine committed suicide in Jan, leaving behind a widow and two small kids. She asked for my help in selling a lot of his things, including this MTB. I know road bikes, but not MTB, so I don't know what I should price it at. I want it to move, but also get a fair price for his family.

It's a specialized S-Works Camber. I'm not sure what year, 2018? 2019? It was clearly a top spec bike when new. I know he had the suspension tuned up last year and rode it only a handful of times since. It's size XL and weighs about 12KG with pedals. It has in frame storage. It shows signs of use,but no damage. I haven't cleaned it yet in these photos. It's running tubeless, has in-frame storage, gears are tuned up, etc.

He was mentally unwell when he bought it, I know he paid about 4500 for it in 2023/2024. I suspect he overpaid then. I can find no record of the purchase or details among his effects. What would be a fair price to try to sell this at now?

Old but nice. Limited market because it’s an XC bike. If you wanted max return I’d say 14 or 1500 but you’ll be sitting on it waiting for the right buyer. $1000-1200 for a quick sale.

  2. It’s an older, discontinued bike and has had some parts downgraded. Looks like the roval wheels have been pulled in favour of a cheaper new set, and the drivetrain / brakes aren’t up to scratch with the standard s-works kit. It appears to be a 2016 model – https://www.specialized.com/za/en/s-works-camber-29/p/106578?color=196691-106578

I’m sorry to say he probably overpaid for it- I would have thought it’d sell at about $1k, but depends on your market
