I got a OMM basket but didn’t think properly and it’s too wide for my narrow bars. It fits ok if turned 90 degrees and I can fasten it down that way, albeit less positively. It sticks out far in front of the hub though. Is this gonna give me any funky instability beyond the usual front bag burden? It looks 15% more elite IMO.

I know I can just try it but I don’t want to unpack/rub/scratch it up in case I need to send back / resell. What do you reckon.

  1. That looks like it might be horribly uncomfortable any time you want to get in the drops or brake. Im speaking from experience of jamming a bag in a similar position and that was all fabric, not metal. I would return it and consider a frame bag or maybe something like ortleib gravel panniers for your fork.

Can you pull the middle of it at the top at the rear towards the headtube so it pulls the sides in a little?

    Edit:
Nevermind, I just realised it is not solely a matter of the brake levers.

I think you either need drops with more flare or just wider – at least 5 cm on each side or a narrower basket.

I don’t think turning the basket is a good idea as the basket is already quite long in front of the axle.
