Anyone have experience with clear coating raw metal? I thought I'd just opt to repaint it in clear coat, but I'm not set on anything yet. If I do a regular paint job it's gonna be something bright and gaudy.

I hear “spray max” (name of the brand) 2 stage clears are the way to go.
When clearing on a raw frame, the flash rust can be a thing. The frame must be sprayed on the same day as frame, or asap? This was based on ai prompts i asked, also hand brush wont work due to leaving brush strokes I believe?
Still waiting to spray my frame w satin clear. I couldn’t wait to ride my new patina build, so it’s being delayed til the next project is finished. Love to see other patina project builds, although they seem to be less common than the usual colorful/fully painted fixed frame builds. Best of luck!
