Is it dumb? Kinda. Is it fun? Probably. Should you not do it? Who cares, ride bikes.

  2. Yeah the MASH SF dudes started doing this 7-8 years ago and it’s been on-trend ever since. They’re fun/comfy to ride.

If it fits you well and is comfortable definitely go for it! I love wide ass flatbars on any kind of bike I ride 🙂

Wide bars are ideal anywhere there are hills or bridges. The trend started in SF cuz its wild hilly.

i don’t love the way these feel, & they suck for squeezing through tight spaces & riding in traffic, but if you’re just riding open roads or bike lanes, i find that they open up your breathing nicely with that wider stance!

I’m more NYC narrow flat bars myself but I have buddies riding big wide flats that say they love it. Of course, I take more risks in traffic than they do so the narrower bars suit my riding style.

These bars and tires are like MTB and Road bikes had a baby, but both are denying paternity. Fixed gear is like an orphan, but cool because superman and batman were orphans too. So, this is not stupid.

I have trucker long bars damn near 800mm in length. Inspiration came from 2013-2017 DC messengers was riding 720, 760, 780s lol. They’re comfortable if the state you live in has hills I tend to swap between drop bars and my long bars. – Aventon Cordoba 46:17 currently. Going to move up to 48:17 (Washington DC is somewhat hilly)

  9. If that’s stupid then I want to be stupid too. Or maybe I already am and that’s why I think it’s not stupid
