When ants die inside a colony, other ants quickly move them to a special spot known as the graveyard. It’s usually a far corner of the nest where dead ants are piled up. This behavior keeps the nest clean and helps prevent disease. Sometimes, if an ant is badly injured or close to dying, it might even drag itself to the graveyard… smells like death—say, if it gets injured—other ants might even mistake it for a corpse and drag it off too!
