All joking aside , the more visible you are the better your chances . I’m amazed the amount of cyclists riding at night without lights wearing black or dark colours . I’m a cyclist too ( sold car last year ) , the further off drivers can see you the more time they have to consider you . 👍👌

  2. Clothing is good…but lights are much better….so no. Not visible enough. You can see a blinking light from miles away….before you see the clothing

    Nae lights?

I’m a similar set up, except I like to wear the reflective gloves to help cars see my hand directions

  4. blinking lights are moving objects are more noticeable than even a hiviz blob… if you get hi-viz booties (or even ankle tape) they’ll help a lot more than you think.. of course, nothing beats lots of blinken lights putting out more lumens than a searchlight 🙂

Add lights. Even daytime running lights help.

DO NOT EVER underestimate the absolute stupidity of a person in an automobile, especially if they also have a phone.

The one time I was hit by a car was when I was wearing a high-viz construction vest that I don’t normally wear.

Nope, you are still going to get doored by some school mom who is then going to profusely appologise because she didn’t see you, thereby implying that it’s your fault.

Same way that the guy who is going to run you over because he didn’t give way as he should will claim that “the cyclist came out of nowhere”.

  8. Man can’t be too careful around cars! I have front and rear lights day and night. Has kept me relatively safe for quite a while. Still gotta learn the common dumb things cars do and always pay attention….cuz drivers rarely are

I don’t see any lights front or rear. Flashing in the rear, steady in front at night, flashing in daytime.

Side point, but I don’t wear this color (or any shade) of green on bright days when riding on wooded/rural roads. Foliage hit with direct sunlight creates a very similar color. I’m probably just being overly cautious.

  11. You could have gotten a high viz helmet cover. Also, you have hi viz socks but then you use high shoe covers? Next time maybe you could put the socks over the shoe covers. And high viz valve caps.

I just bought a new cycling jacket. Colours available were sky blue, red, gold, yellow. I asked for green or black they said we try to only make jackets you can see. All horrible colours i went with sky blue. For visibility not fashion. I say rock it but with lights next time!!

  13. I would agree it probably is hard to judge speed and distance but the whole point is to be seen and nothing works better than flashing lights. I can’t believe there are NIMBY laws banning flashing lights. I’ll take that ticket and gladly fight it in court
